UPDATE: Olive Branch aldermen drop veto effort in seeking longer alcohol hours
On Nov. 17, Olive Branch aldermen voted 4-2 (with one absence) to extend drinking hours at city businesses to 7am to 1am DAILY. The current ordinance allows alcohol to be served 10am to midnight Monday to Saturday, and from 1pm to midnight Sundays. Mayor Rikard vetoed that decision. Aldermen had the opportunity to override that veto at their Dec. 15 meeting, but that item was removed from the agenda and not voted on. As a result, the hours to serve alcohol at Olive Branch restaurants will NOT be extended. See the news story in the Dec. 16 Commercial Appeal (third item).
