Our Mission
At Longview Heights, the Trekkers After School Program exists for the purpose of providing quality care, recreational enjoyment and educational learning in a Christian environment to children of the church and surrounding community.
It is our aim to respond to individual and family needs through nurturing and guiding the child in wisdom and knowledge that will foster development and empower the child as a whole in all aspects of life:
Planned, structured activities throughout the week include:
Hours/Days of Operation: The Desoto Co. school calendar will be followed in most instances. We follow Desoto Co schools in inclimate weather related closings. If school is closed/dismissed early, Trekkers will also be closed.
In-school days: after school– 6 p.m. In-school days are defined as after-school care provided when DeSoto County Schools are in session. The program will begin on the first day of school for the children and end on the last day of school. The Trekkers office opens at noon.
School holidays: 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. holidays are defined as full-day care provided during holidays when DeSoto County Schools are not in session but Trekkers is open Trekkers is closed on major holidays, Good Friday, Memorial day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New years.

- Spiritual – directing the child toward a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and developing that relationship on a deeper, more intimate level
- Physical – pursuing physical growth and development by establishing and reinforcing healthy habits through eating well during snack time and exercising regularly during organized or free recreational activities
- Academics – working with the established educational system and providing assistance in grasping an essential understanding of all subject areas in addition to developing creative, critical and independent thinking skills
- Community/Social – Providing a safe, supervised environment that allows children to develop self worth, friendships and social skills in order to relate more effectively to others as well as develop a sense of responsibility and respect
- Emotional – offering a family-oriented atmosphere where an emphasis is placed on such characteristics and positive qualities as trustworthiness, fairness, compassion, loyalty, patience, honor, faithfulness, justice and love
